In response to the low-range turbidity monitoring needs of tap water, secondary water supply, swimming pools, piped direct drinking water, etc., Chongqing YuanGan Technology has launched three high-performance turbidity sensors: KD, P1, and T1. This article compares the five core dimensions of measuring range accuracy, defoaming method, installation and use, automatic cleaning, and purchase price to help customers accurately select and match the best monitoring solution.

The three sensors KD, P1, and T1 are all equipped with dual ranges of 0-20NTU and 0-100NTU as standard. After precise calibration, the error of the standard liquid measurement indication can be controlled within 2%. Within the core range of tap water turbidity control, 0-1NTU, the three products all performed well and the data was stable and reliable.

Based on the optimization of the optical trap structure, KD and P1 have better measurement accuracy in the ultra-low range of 0-0.1NTU, support customization of the 0-1NTU range, and are perfectly suitable for scenes with strict requirements for ultra-low turbidity detection accuracy.

In terms of range expansion, the three products each have their own advantages:

KD can be linearly expanded to nearly 200NTU;

P1 can be linearly expanded to nearly 400NTU;

T1 linearly expands to nearly 1000NTU.

Selection tip: Range expansion will be accompanied by a certain loss of accuracy. It is recommended to choose based on actual monitoring needs. There is no need to blindly pursue a large range.

2. Defoaming method - adapt to working conditions and stabilize measurement values

Two defoaming technologies specifically solve the problem of bubble interference in different scenarios and ensure data accuracy:

1.KD grille defoaming: It is suitable for most low-range turbidity monitoring scenarios, and the bubble elimination effect is stable.

Advantageous scenarios: working conditions in which the water sample is not full of the tube and the airtightness of the booster pump is poor, causing a large number of bubbles to be mixed into the water sample.

2.P1/T1 pressure-holding defoaming: With its closed structure design, it can effectively suppress the precipitation of micro-nano bubbles and avoid problems such as high measurement values and fluctuations.

Advantageous scenarios: In scenarios where pipeline pressure is high, such as behind the secondary water supply pump, attention should be paid to keeping the water inlet away from frequently opened faucets during installation to prevent bubble interference caused by sudden drops in water pressure.

Universal adaptation scenarios: All three sensors can operate stably in unpressurized full-pipe working conditions such as water tanks and pools with artesian water.

3. Installation and use - structural differences, deployment on demand

The structural characteristics of the three sensors determine different installation requirements, which require reasonable layout based on on-site working conditions:

1. KD grille defoaming: The flow cell grille defoaming structure needs to be connected to the atmosphere. Installation taboos: Do not operate under pressure. It is prohibited to connect other sensors in series to the drain outlet. Flow control: The inlet flow rate must be ≤2L/min to prevent overflow.

2.P1/T1 sealed and pressure-resistant: The flow cell is a sealed pressure-resistant structure that supports pressure-suppressed operation. Multiple sensors can be connected in series at the water outlet; installation points: The water outlet needs to be equipped with a regulating valve. Try not to set a regulating valve in front of the water inlet or keep the valve fully open to ensure that stable pressure is maintained in the flow cell and achieve the pressure-holding and defoaming effect.

4. Automatic maintenance - convenient maintenance and reduced costs

KD, P1, and T1 all support the installation of automatic cleaning functions to reduce the frequency of manual maintenance and adapt to online long-term monitoring requirements:

1.KD automatic cleaning and draining: Just replace the original manual drain valve with an electric drain valve, and the instrument can automatically turn on the drain according to the preset cycle to complete the cleaning of the flow cell.

2. P1/T1 high-pressure flushing cleaning: Connect a tee in series between the water outlet and the regulating valve, and connect the lead pipe to the electric drain valve; the instrument controls the electric valve to open regularly, and uses the strong water flow formed by the pressure in the flow tank to flush the flow tank and sensor probe under high pressure for more thorough cleaning.

5. Automatic maintenance - cost-effective grading, matching budget

The three sensors are clearly positioned to meet the cost and performance needs of different customers:

KD turbidity sensor: Due to the complex structure and process of the flow cell, the price is relatively high, so it is suitable for scenes that have extreme requirements for ultra-low turbidity measurement accuracy.

P1 turbidity sensor: achieves the optimal balance between performance and cost, and has outstanding cost performance. It is the preferred solution for online monitoring of water plants, secondary water supply, and piped direct drinking water.

T1 Turbidity Sensor: Affordable and affordable, suitable for swimming pool water quality monitoring and cost-sensitive drinking water monitoring projects.

Customers can comprehensively select the most suitable low-range turbidity sensor based on on-site working conditions, accuracy requirements and budget.
