The membrane-covered digital disinfectant sensor is a three-electrode measuring system with a high-purity gold working electrode and a high-precision potentiostat built into the electrode to hold the working-electrode potential stable. Disinfectant species such as hypochlorous acid undergo redox reactions at the working electrode, and the resulting current follows Faraday's law, which gives the disinfectant concentration.
